Washington, DC Monuments & Memorials

From the White House to the Capitol Rotunda, the nation's capital is home to many iconic buildings and landmarks. Most monuments in Washington, DC, are found in the heart of the city, on or near the National Mall, just a 30-minute drive from BEST WESTERN Fairfax. We offer a wonderful, all-inclusive DC Bus Tour Package so you can enjoy the monuments and learn their stories from knowledgeable guides.
At the center of the National Mall is the Washington Monument, a distinctive obelisk rising into the heavens that pays tribute to the nation's first president. Free tickets are required to explore the interior of the tower, and are available first come-first served. You can reserve them in advance for a $1.50 fee. The Lincoln Memorial is probably one of the most widely recognizable structures in the world, with its 36 Doric columns and seated figure of the 16th president.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the National Mall is another popular destination, centered on a black wall inscribed with the names of those who served and perished in that action.  The Martin Luther King, Jr. and Franklin D. Roosevelt memorials are also located nearby on the Potomac River Tidal Basin. Off the National Mall, the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial pays tribute to the 184 lives lost in the attack on the Pentagon in 2001. It's close to the Marine Corps Memorial and the Air Force Memorial.
